Congratulations to senior team player James Martin who won our club lotto jackpot of €18,500 on Monday 1st October 2012, a nice lift James following your disappointment on exiting the senior championship on the previous evening. Well done, enjoy your win. Dromard Community Wellathon – classes are continuing in the clubhouse Tuesday to Friday and walks happening on Sunday mornings at 9.30am and Wednesday mornings at 10.30am building up to our 5k/10km walk/jog/run on Saturday 10th November at 11.30am which is being run both in aid of St. Christopher’s, Longford and to defray the expenses of our club facilities.  We appeal for support from the entire community for this event. On Friday night last our seniors travelled to McGann Park Kenagh to play St. Columba’s in the Div. 1 league.  With a Leader Cup quarter final spot up for grabs for the winner it was a good way to get back on track after the semi final exit from the championship the previous weekend.  Fog lingered on an otherwise suitable night for football.  The game started at a fast pace and it was Dromard who were first to score complements of Francis McGee points from a free and play.  The Mullinalaghta men pulled a point back but a James Martin goal from play after a good build up extended our lead.  A further 4 points were converted before half time coming from Cían Mimnagh (3) and Declan Mimnagh (1).  The half time score was Dromard 1-06 St. Columba’s 0-03.  We got the opening 2 points of the second half.  Points were exchanged and it was the Mullinalaghta men who landed the last points of the half to leave the score at the full time whistle Dromard 1-11 St. Columba’s 0-09.  Team and scorers;  Damien Sheridan, Peadar Faughnan, Cathal Conefrey, Paul McGee, Padraig McNerney, John Sheridan, Kevin Donohoe, Noel Reynolds, Diarmuid Masterson, Bernard Sheridan, Peter Reynolds, Declan Mimnagh (0-02), James Martin (1-02) 2 frees, Cían Mimnagh (0-04) 1 free, Francis McGee (0-03) 2 frees.  Subs used; Peter Masterson, Gary Maguire and Emmet Masterson.  Thanks to the St. Columba’s club for facilitating a change to the fixture.  Thanks also to the Kenagh club for the use of their facilities.  Last round of the league is next Saturday when we have Colmcille as visitors to Pairc na Gael at 4.30pm.  On Sunday the Packie Rogers tournament kicked off when we played Carrickedmond in Pairc na Gael on Sunday last.  The first half was a close affair with Dromard holding a 3-05 to 3-04 lead at half time.  The second half saw the visitors get on top entering a lead which they held onto until the final whistle.  Team and scorers;  Eóin McNerney, James Conefrey, Thomas Conefrey, Mark Murtagh, Conor Kiernan, Ronan Smith, Niall McManus, Keith Masterson (1-00), Martin McGee, Dermot Reilly (2-04), Jimmy Kiernan (0-01), Sean McNerney (1-06).  Next round of this competition is next Saturday when we travel to Abbeylara for a 4pm throw in. Congratulations to former long serving Dromard player Dessie Sheridan, chairman of the Melvin Gaels club Kinlough, who won the Leitrim senior championship final on Sunday last. This was a great achievement having only come out of Intermediate ranks the previous year and beating the five in a row chasing Glencar Manorhamilton.  Well done to our near neighbours Mullahoran who captured the Cavan final after a replay on Sunday. Best wishes to both Killoe and Longford Slashers in the county final this Sunday. Congratulations to dedicated player Paul McEntire Annagh who got married on Saturday last to Jennifer Kiernan Arva. We wish the happy couple much happiness together as they set out in their married life in their new home in Annagh. Sincere condolences to the Cunningham family Abbeylara on the recent passing of Larry.
