On Wednesday last our special junior team had Shroid as visitors.  A pointed free by our opponents opened the scoring.  We responded with 1-01 with the goal coming from Kevin Hourican. Another pointed free from the visitors was followed by a Dermot Reilly goal.  While we came under some pressure for the remainder of the half it was a David Cosgrove point that closed the scoring for the half.  Half time score was Dromard 2-2 Shroid 2-6.  The second half was keenly contested but it was Shroid who led at the finish on the scoreline Dromard 3-04 Shroid 2-12. Great credit goes to our goalie Danny Pettit was brought off a string of top class saves.

Team and scorers; Danny Pettit, James Conefrey, Aidan Gray, Niall Berry, Brendan McLoughlin, Thomas Conefrey, Sean Mc Nerney (0-02), Keith Masterson, David Cosgrove (0-01), Dermot Reilly (1-01), Padraig Farrell, Kevin Hourican (2-00), John McNaboe.

On Saturday last our senior team travelled to Clonbony to take on Rathcline in the second round of the All County league. Weather and pitch conditions were very good and it was a Cian Mimnagh free that opened the scoring. The home side replied with a point and this was followed by 5 unanswered points from our team.  Both teams exchanged further points to leave the half time score Dromard 0-07 Rathcline 0-02. A Cian Mimnagh goal on the resumption stretched our advantage. While our opponents pulled back points we held on to the lead until the finish where the full time score was Dromard 3-11 Rathcline 1-04.

Team and scorers; Gavin McNerney, Niall Vance, Cathal Conefrey, David Pettit, Peter Masterson, Kevin Donohoe (0-01), John Sheridan, Noel Reynolds, Diarmuid Masterson, Bernard Sheridan, Cían Mimnagh (1-05) 3 frees, Peadar Faughnan, James Martin (0-01) 1 free, Ronan McEntire (1-01), Declan Mimnagh (1-03).  Subs used;  Gary Maguire, Conor Duffy, James Mimnagh & Paul McGee. Next outing is at home to Clonguish this Saturday and at home to Kenagh on Wednesday week.

On Sunday our division 3 team travelled to Egan Park Forgney for round 2 of this competition. We got the perfect start scoring 2-01 without reply. We continued to enjoy a good deal of possession but we were unfortunate not to add more scores. The home side came more into it as the half wore on and by half time the score was Dromard 2-02 St. Munis 1-04.  The second half saw the teams level for most of the period and it was deadlocked with time nearly up until our opponents landed the match winning score.

Team and scorers; Danny Pettit, Thomas Conefrey, James Conefrey, Conor Kiernan, Niall Berry, Donie Conefrey (0-01), Michael Reynolds, Keith Masterson, Fergal Berry, Cornie McGinley, Enda Macken (0-02) 1 free, Padraig Farrell, Michael Reilly (1-02), Sean McNerney (1-01), Mark Murtagh. Next round of this competition is on Sunday next when we have Killoe as visitors.

We wish senior player Niall Vance the best of luck when he heads to Australia this week.  Niall is a hugely dedicated player and is a permanent feature on our senior team for some time now. The leadership he has provided and his unflinching spirit will be a loss to our senior panel.  Bon Voyage and every best wish Niall, Aine and Dylan.
