Our draw for two return flight tickets to Australia plus €1,000 takes place this Saturday night 15th December 2012 at a function in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. Music on the night will be supplied by Nite Fever. Tickets available from club members and in local shops, Corrigan’s Service Station and Moyne Cross Stores as well as on-line see our website www.dromard.longford.gaa.ie . Please note that the cut off time for on-line sales will be midday on Saturday (the day of the draw). On Wednesday night last we played Longford Slashers in the Leader cup semi final.  By virtue of their higher finishing position in the division Slashers had home advantage. While the temperatures were at freezing point underfoot conditions were good.  The game started at a high pace with both teams showing a high level of effort.  It was the home side who took an early lead after successfully converting points from a 50 and a free.  A fine Cian Mimnagh point from play halved this lead.  Both sides exchanged a brace of points to leave the half time score Dromard 0-03 Longford Slashers 0-04. Dromard came out after half time in determined style and enjoyed a good period of dominance which resulted in a run of 3 points, two from play from Cian Mimnagh and a converted free from James Martin following a foul on Declan Mimnagh. Our opponents found the net to go back into the lead. Parity was restored with a Cían Mimnagh free. A second Slashers goal opened up a 3 point margin and while we pulled back a point from a free and had a couple of close calls for more scores our opponents held out to claim victory and a place in the final. Full time score was Dromard 0-08 Longford Slashers 2-04.Team and scorers; Damien Sheridan, Paul McGee, Cathal Conefrey, David Pettit, John Sheridan, Diarmuid Masterson, Peter Reynolds, Noel Reynolds, James Mimnagh, Bernard Sheridan, Francis McGee (0-01) 1 free, Emmet Masterson, James Martin (0-02) 2 frees, Cian Mimnagh (0-05) 2 frees, Declan Mimnagh.  Subs used; Peter Masterson, Kevin Donohoe, Gary Maguire. Other subs available were Gavin McNerney, Mícheál Reilly, Keith Masterson, Conor Kiernan, Dermot Reilly. Great credit goes to our players who showed great hunger and determination on the evening after a long season.  With a little more luck we could have came away with a win but it wasn't to be. Thanks to our loyal supporters who came out in big numbers braving the cold to follow their team.  As this draws our playing season to a close the club would like our players for their commitment during the year, hope that they enjoy the break and look forward to seeing everyone back in the new season.  Thanks to team manager Cíarán Fox for his efforts over the course of the year. A word of thanks goes to his management team for their commitment over the year, club officials who were a constant support and to anyone who helped out in any way with the running of our teams. The club offers it's congratulations to Damien Sheridan, James Martin and Diarmuid Masterson who were selected on the team of the Longford senior championship.  We offer our best wishes to Diarmuid Masterson who departs for Australia at the weekend.  Diarmuid has always given his club great service since he started playing in his youth. He has represented Longford with distinction for many seasons. Players of Diarmuid's ability are rare. Not only is he a hugely talented footballer but he has a very positive personality, always cooperative and easy to get along with.  We are very fortunate to have him in our ranks as a person and a player and be able to witness the range of his skills and abilities every time he pulled on a Dromard jersey. We hope someday soon to see him back in his native blue and gold. Congratulations to Killoe who retained their under 21 championship title last weekend.  Hard luck to our neighbours Fr. Manning Gaels who lost out on the evening but well done on reaching the final.  Best wishes to John Duffy in his bid for election at County Convention. Condolences to the Smith family Enaghan on their recent bereavement. Lotto results for Monday 26th November 2012. The numbers drawn were 10, 17, 21 and 22. There was no jackpot winner.
