On Sunday last our under 21’s played Kenagh/Moydow in the opening round of the under 21 championship.  The weather was calm, dry and mild, very suitable for football.  We got off to a good start scoring 1-03 without reply.  The goal came from a Declan Mimnagh penalty awarded for a foul on Gary Maguire.  The visitors then pointed from play.  Dromard scored a further 4pts (3 from play and 1 free).  Kenagh/Moydow responded with 2 points from play.  Dromard hit back with 1-01 with the goal coming on this occasion from Ross Mc Nerney.  Our opponents finished the half strongly scoring an unanswered 4 points from played to leave the half time score Dromard 2-07 Kenagh/Moydow 0-07.  Dromard were first to score in the second half with Ross McNerney landing a point from play and Declan Mimnagh then converting a free.  The visitors pulled back 2 points both coming from play.  Both sides exchanged points with Gary Maguire getting the Dromard score.  The next scores of the game were 4 goals, the first of which came from Kenagh/Moydow with Dromard responding when Ross McNerney found the net before the visitors successfully converted a penalty opportunity. This passage of goal scoring came to a conclusion when Declan Mimnagh finished the ball to the net. A point from a free from Ross McNerney left Dromard leading 4-11 to 2-10.  However the south Longford outfit weren't finished yet scoring 1-03.  Dromard's response was a Declan Mimnagh 45, ensuring the home win.  Final score Dromard 4-12 Kenagh/Moydow 3-13.  Team and scorers;  Eóin McNerney, Stephen Kenny, Ronan Smith, Michael Reynolds, Keith Masterson, James Kenny, Neil Cosgrove, Ross McNerney (2-04) 1 free, Conal Murphy, Gary Maguire (0-03) 2 frees, Niall McManus, Peter Mimnagh (0-01), Declan Mimnagh (2-04) 1-00 pen,3 frees.  Subs used;  David Cosgrove and Liam Doherty.  Other subs on the day were Dylan Masterson, Barry Connell, Cillian Hourican.  Referee Patrick Maguire.  On Saturday next were play Killoe in the second group game in Killoe at 7pm.  We have our final senior league game of the season away to Colmcille this Sunday.  Best wishes to Ardagh who play in the Leinster Intermediate championship this weekend.
