Club Notes for Friday 21st February 2014

The senior club AGM is due to take place this coming Sunday the 23rd of February at 2:30pm and nomination papers which are available in the local shops or from club officers should be returned by this Wednesday 19th February. Anyone who would like to play a role in either managing teams or being a selector with any of the teams or in the various officer positions to help with the running of the club for the coming year please make themselves known to one of the following; Joe Murphy, Kevin Hourican, Pat Jones or Anthony Maguire. Anyone wishing to become involved in refereeing please make their interest known to Peggy Kiernan or Joseph Murphy. Training for all panels commences this Fridays at 8pm and on Tuesdays at 8pm.  As the Reserve Leagues 1, 3, and 3A start in a few weeks’ time all players are welcome and are strongly encouraged to make a start this Friday night. In order to improve coaching, please complete the County Board Coaching Online Survey which can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LongfordGAAClubSurvey. In addition to providing your valuable input, any clubs with 15 responders will be entered into a draw with free passes to all club championship matches in Longford plus a €200 voucher. Longford GAA coaching & Games are running a Code of Ethics in Sport Workshop this Thursday night the 20th of February from 7pm - 10pm in a Longford Town Venue. Book in advance by contacting 0879126556 ASAP. Any person interacting with children/teenagers within the context of the GAA must have completed this course. On the 24th February, Longford GAA coaching will be hosting a Club Forum in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park at 7pm covering all aspects of underage Gaelic Games Development.  U8 & U10 Go Games fixtures for 2014 will also be set at this forum. The forum is open to all club members. Saturday 1st Mar Award 2 Child Football – for coaches, Maynooth. Best wishes to Ross McNerney and the Longford U21’s in the Leinster Championship on Wednesday the 19th in Newtowncashel at 7:30pm. Also belated best wishes to Ronan McEntire who made his inter county debut on the 40 for the Longford Senior team v Roscommon in the National League. Lotto results for Monday 10th February 2014. The numbers drawn were 2, 8, 15 and 22. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were George Taaffe, Conor's Boys, Anne Browne and Jamsie Martin. The seller's prize was won by John O'Toole. The club would like to extend our sympathy to the Hourican and Gormley families on the death of their cousin Jim Carlisle who died in Australia. We also extend our sympathy to Deirdre McLoughlin, Corrick on the death of her uncle Michael Donohoe in Dublin last month. The county finals of Senior Scór will be held in the ‘98 Hall, Ballinamuck this Friday night 21st February commencing at 8pm. Anyone with outstanding tickets or money for the National GAA draw is asked to urgently return same.
