Tommy Flynn will give a talk on the early years in GAA in the Longford Arms Hotel on Thursday 22nd March 2012. Tommy whose family has long associations with the GAA (he is grandson to Jimmy Flynn who was county chairman during the glory years when Longford won the nation league) has researched the subject and will give his talk at 8.30pm. This should appeal to all GAA fans in the area. Admission is free.

On St. Patrick's Day our reserve league 1 panel made the short journey to Fr. Mc Gee Park to play round 2 of this competition.  Rain showers before throw in left conditions slippery.  However both teams adjusted serving up an entertaining hour's football.

Gary Maguire was our scorer in chief on the day and it was him who got our opening 1-04 of the game, the goal coming from a penalty resulting when he was fouled.  Points from Donal Sheridan and Emmet Masterson brought our tally at half time to 1-06 compared to 0-10 for the home team.

The second half was a tight affair with little separating the sides throughout.  We were able to edge ahead early in the second half and managed to hold on to a lead until the final whistle.  The final score was Dromard 1-13 Colmcille 0-14.

Team and scorers; Gavin McNerney, Conor Kiernan, Padraig McNerney, James Conefrey, Enda Kiernan, Kevin Donohoe (0-01), Conor Duffy, Noel Reynolds, Donal Sheridan (0-01), Kieran McStay, Bernard Sheridan (0-02), Emmet Masterson (0-02), Mícheál Reilly, Dermot Reilly, Gary Maguire (1-07) 1-00 pen, 5 frees.

Next game in this competition is a home fixture against Longford Slashers on Sunday next at 12.45pm.

Well done to Longford seniors who preserved their 100% winning record when accounting for Antrim on Sunday last in Pearse Park.  Best of luck to all again when they travel to Thurles to take on Tipperary on Saturday next.

Lotto results for Monday night 12th March 2012. The numbers drawn were 2, 8, 9 and 23. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were G. McDonald, Noel Maguire, Bernie Greene and Fr. Charlie Healy. The seller's prize was won by  Marie Smith.
