Under 12: Apologies for the omission of the report from last week’s notes. Round 5 of the U12 Longford league took place away to Ballymahon on Thursday 10th September in Leo Casey Park.  The St Francis team suffered their first defeat in this league to a very strong Ballymahon outfit with a scoreline of 4-10 to 3-5. Without the services of holidaymaker James Brady and Alan Corcoran who was sick, the team on the evening were Eoin Palin, Ian McLoughlin, Ruairi O'Toole, Oisin O'Toole, Brianna Murphy, Matt Duffy, Ryan O'Connor, Conal Palin, Christopher Grimes, Ronan Corcoran, Callum McEntire, Ben O'Reilly and Daniel Conboy. Our next match is away to Colmcille on Sept 1st. Congrats to some of our U12 players who were part of the U14 squad who won the Shield on Saturday. Good luck to the U12 girls in their final Thursday. Thanks to the parents of our U12 squad who took part in the bag packing fundraiser at the weekend.

U12's Semi Final Win: Our Under 12 team had a great victory in a very entertaining semi final over Colmcille last Thursday evening in Pairc Na nGael on a final scoreline of 3-8 to 2-4. This entertaining game was played at a high level of intensity and both teams deserve great credit. No quarter was asked for or given on the field of play and when the final whistle went both teams showed great sportsmanship in congratulating or commiserating with each other with and air of respect and maturity beyond their years. Long may these sentiments be expressed by both teams win or lose. Having gone in at half time trailing by four points, a very determined display from all players in the second half curtailed a very talented Colmcille team to 1 point while putting 2 goals and six points on the board themselves, thus setting up a final on Friday evening next in Pearse Park against Ballymahon/Forgney at 6.15pm. The team on duty was. Alan Corcoran, James Brady, Ian McLoughlin, Conal Palin, Ruairi O'Toole, Oisin O'Toole, Matt Duffy, Ryan O'Connor, Callum McEntire, Ronan Corcoran, Daniel Conboy, Christopher Grimes, Brianna Murphy, Ben O'Reilly, Sean Conboy and Arron Conboy.
