Club Notes for Friday 30th Sept 2011

Dromard GAA club in conjunction with Longford Sports Partnership (see is hosting a fun walk next Sunday 2nd October 2011. The 5km walk will commence at 3pm from the GAA clubhouse and will proceed via Martin's Cross, Aughamore Lr Road, left in the Legga Pass, left at Morris's, down through Paul's Cross, Legga Cemetery, Legga Church and back to the clubhouse where refreshments will be served. There will also be an optional donations box available in the clubhouse after the walk in aid of the famine victims in Somalia and we hope that people will be as generous as possible. Our seniors had two outings this past week. On Wednesday we played Fr. Manning Gaels in Monaduff. The home side opened the scoring with a point from play. Diarmuid Masterson ended a good move with a well taken goal. We added a further four points and while our opposition added further scores we led at half time Dromard 1-04 Fr. Manning Gaels 0-04. Early in the second half we hit a purple patch where we scored 2-04 without reply. The Gaels finished strongly but we were ahead at the finish on the score line Dromard 3-08 Fr. Manning Gaels 1-06. Subs used; Bernard Sheridan, Emmet Masterson and Ronan McEntire (1-00). On Saturday we travelled to Maguire Park where we took on Sean Connolly's. We opened a 1-04 to no score lead early in the game. At half time we held a 3-04 to 0-01 lead. The second half saw the home side score a goal and a number of points. The scoreline at the finish was Dromard 4-14 Sean Connolly's 1-05. Team and scorers; Ronan Mc Entire, Conor Duffy, Niall Vance, Cathal Conefrey, Donie Conefrey, Paul McGee, Padraig Martin (0-02), Bernard Sheridan (0-01), James Mimnagh, Peter Masterson (1-02), John Sheridan (0-01), Diarmuid Masterson, James Martin (1-05), Francis McGee (0-03), Declan Mimnagh (2-01). We again have two games this week when we play St. Columba's this Wednesday in Monaduff and away to Cashel next Sunday at 2pm. Our juniors had a challenge away to Killoe on Saturday last. We are due to play Ardagh in the Packie Rogers tournament next weekend. Our under 21's played a challenge game away to Mostrim on Sunday last. We finished ahead at the end and we thank the Mostrim club for the match. Well done to St. Brigid's, Killashee on winning the Intermediate championship final on Sunday last. We wish Paul Mc Entire a speedy recovery from his recent surgery. Good luck to Cíarán Macken who has guided Castlerahan to next Sunday's Cavan senior final. 
Congratulations to Adrian Maguire who has swapped the blue and gold for the green and gold and has won both a league and championship medal recently with St. Finbarr's GAA club in Perth, Western Australia. Well done from all your friends and teammates in Dromard. Lotto results for Monday night 19th September 2011. The numbers drawn were 4, 9, 18 & 20. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were Ann Brady, Mary Ellen Gray, Cathal Reilly, Sarah and Darragh Buchanan and the seller's prize was won by Marian Maguire.
