The past week saw our club loose one of it's members, Jim Taaffe, who had a lifelong association with his native Dromard club. Jim started a long and committed playing career at a time where the emphasis was on the club's survival rather than competing for honours. Jim was a resolute full back that was a permanent fixture on the team for years. Anyone who recalls the games of those times would always single out Jim for his determination everyday he wore the Dromard jersey. When his playing days came to an end he continued his involvement as a team selector and afterwards as club chairman. Jim was ever present at club games right up until recently and is another stalwart who will be sorely missed from around our club grounds. Jim took great pride in the club and the club was lucky to have had such a loyal and committed member. Our reserve league 1 and 3 game fell foul the adverse weather conditions of last weekend. We play Clonguish this Friday at 8pm in Allen Park and Shroid in Reserve League 3 on Sunday in Shroid at 2.30pm. We had a useful senior challenge on Sunday last against St. Columbas in Pairc na Gael.  The final score was Dromard 0-7 St. Columbas 1-8.  Team and scorers; Gavin Mc Nerney, Paul Mc Gee, Peter Masterson, Micheal Reilly, Peter Reynolds, James Mimnagh, Kieran Mc Stay, Bernard Sheridan, Noel Reynolds, Emmet Masterson (0-1), James Martin (0-1), Martin Mc Gee, Ross Mc Nerney (0-2), Cathal Conefrey, Gary Maguire (0-3) 1 free.  Sub used Sean Mc Nerney.Well done to the county u21s who defeated Wexford on Wednesday last to advance to the Leinster final. Hard luck to Longford seniors who went down to Laois after a gallant display.
