Club Notes for Friday 2nd December 2011

In conjunction with Jigscenes.com, the club intend producing a number of children's jigsaw's for the Christmas market. The proceeds from this will go towards youth coaching and games development in the club. We would like to thank Jigscenes.com for their sponsorship of the presentations made to the McCabe family, Corglass on the night of our Tractor draw. Jigscenes.com is a company set up by local clubman Bernard Smith, Fyhora along with brothers John and Gearóid Reilly from Gowna. Any photo submitted to them can be produced in jigsaw format. Bernard can be contacted at 087 6916808. We hope to have a number of jigsaws available in the local shops for the Christmas market. The jigsaws will be available in different levels of difficulty, 8 piece, 50 piece and 150 piece. On Saturday November 5th our under 21 panel travelled to Michael Fay Park to play the opening round against Longford Slashers. Glorious weather conditions made for good conditions for both player and supporter. The home side we first to settle opening up a 4 point to 2 lead. Our boys responded well scoring 1-02, the goal a well finished Thomas Kelly effort following a good move. Both sides added further scores leaving the half time score Dromard 1-06 Longford Slashers 0-08. Again it was our opponents that got into their running on the resumption going into a 1-11 to 1-06 lead. We battled back to move ahead on the score 2-11 to 1-13, the goal finished on this occasion by Peter Mimnagh. As the game entered the closing stages we trailed by a point, Gary Maguire coolly stepped up to slot over the equaliser. Full time score Dromard 2-12 Longford Slashers 1-15. Well done to our players who showed a never say die attitude on the day. Great credit must go to both sides who served up a hugely entertaining hour's football. Sub on the day Conor Smith. Our u21s took on Killoe in our second group game of the championship on Sunday November 13th in Pairc na Gael. Conditions were dry but a strong breeze blew toward the church end which favoured Killoe in the opening half. We got the opening score of the game through a Declan Mimnagh free. The visitors drew level before a Bernard Sheridan free edged us in front again. Our opponents registered an unanswered 1-03 but we closed the first half scoring with a Declan Mimnagh point from play. Half time score was Dromard 0-03 Killoe 1-04. We got the opening 2 points of the second half to narrow the margin. Killoe then had a good phase of possession that yielded 3 points to open up a 5 point lead. Our lads redoubled their efforts to finish strongly scoring the last 4 points of the game. The final score was Dromard 0-09 Killoe 1-07. Lotto results for Monday night 21st Nov 2011. The numbers drawn were 3, 11, 16 & 29. There was no winner of the €14,100 jackpot. The winners of the draw were Paula Mulligan, Joanne Brady, Lorraine Kane and Linda Martin. The seller's prize was won by Marian Maguire.
