Development of the 3 G training facility is at an advanced stage. The synthetic surface is due to be laid at the end of August, and final site works being completed by early September. This facility will be available for playing from September onwards and can be booked for the winter period by making contact with club. It has also been announced By Chairman Joe Murphy at the recent monthly club meeting that funding has been secured from Longford Community Resources Ltd. for the resurfacing of the car parks which is to include area in front of the new Facility. The work will start shortly and will further enhance the facilities and generate further employment locally. We would like to remind you that in order to raise some much need funds, our Minor Club will be doing bag packing in Dunnes Stores, Longford on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August 2012. Your support will be very much appreciated. On Sunday last our senior panel travelled to Michael Fay Park to take on Mostrim in the opening round of the senior championship. Showery conditions made ball and surface slippery.  We played with the aid of a slight breeze in the opening half.  We started brightly going into a 5 point to no score lead. Mostrim responded with 2 points from play, which were cancelled out by 2 points from the blue and gold.  Our opponents closed the scoring for the half with a point.  The half time score was Dromard 0-07 Mostrim 0-03.  On the resumption we extended our lead scoring the opening 3 points of the half.  Mostrim pulled one back but Dromard landed 2 points in reply.  We had to withstand a considerable period of pressure as the game entered the closing stages.  While our opponents did find the target to register points we held out to finish ahead at the final whistle Dromard 0-12 Mostrim 0-8. Team and scorers; Damien Sheridan, Paul McGee, Cathal Conefrey, David Pettit, John Sheridan, Diarmuid Masterson, Peter Reynolds, Noel Reynolds, Donal Sheridan, Bernard Sheridan, Francis McGee (0-08) 3 frees, Cían Mimnagh, James Martin (0-03), Ronan McEntire, Declan Mimnagh.  Subs used; Peadar Faughnan, Gary Maguire, Kevin Donohoe and Emmet Masterson.  Other subs on the day were Padraig McNerney, James Mimnagh, Enda McEntire, Conor Duffy, Kieran McStay, Mícheál Reilly and Conor Kiernan.  Well done to the players who put in a huge effort on the day.  Next game is against our neighbours Colmcille this Thursday evening at 8pm in Monaduff.  On Sunday our junior panel had a useful workout against Clonguish.  Team on the day was Danny Pettit, Aidan Gray, Thomas Conefrey, Hugh Martin, Niall Berry, Keith Masterson, James Kenny, Michael Reynolds, David Cosgrove, Conor Kiernan, Sean McNerney, Martin McGee, Cornie McGinley, Jimmy Kiernan and Kevin Hourican. We are due to play Moydow Harpers in Moydow in the junior championship this Thursday.  Best of luck to all involved here. The club would like to take the opportunity to thank the Barry Kiernan of Barry Kiernan Construction for his generous sponsorship of tops for the senior panel.  We would like also to thank Michael Maguire Legga who runs a successful business in Dublin for his kind sponsorship of togs and socks for our senior panel.  We greatly appreciate the support of these and all our sponsors in the current challenging economic times. Sincere condolences to Collette Masterson and the Masterson family Firmullagh on the passing of Collette’s father Sean Mulleady, Drumlish. Lotto results for Monday 23rd July 2012. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 11 & 29. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were Dermot Reilly, David Crowe, Mary Jo Gray, Corrigan’s staff and Joseph Murphy (seller’s prize).
