On Friday last our seniors played their third game of the league when we had Longford Slashers as visitors.  The sun shone on Pairc na Gael making conditions ideal for the game.  The opening score came from Francis McGee who converted a free that resulted from a foul on Ross McNerney.  The visitors replied with 1-1 to go ahead.  Dromard responded well scoring the next 4 points to regain the lead.  These points came from a fisted point from Declan Mimnagh and a brace from Francis McGee (1 play,1 free) followed by a Ross McNerney point from play.  However the town side came back strongly scoring an unanswered 4 points.  A Ross McNerney point from play was our response but it was Slashers who finished the first half scoring to lead at the break on the scoreline Longford Slashers 1-6 Dromard 0-6.  The second half opened with our opponents landing a point from play.  A Ross McNerney point from play narrowed the gap but it was the visitors who went on to out score us 9pts to Dromard's 1-1, with Declan Mimnagh scoring the goal and Ronan Mc Entire the point.  The score at the final whistle Dromard 1-8 Longford Slashers 1-16.  Team and scorers.  Damien Sheridan, James Mimnagh, Peter Masterson, David Pettit, Paul Mc Gee, Peter Reynolds, Kevin Donohoe, Noel Reynolds, Bernard Sheridan, Emmet Masterson, Francis McGee (0-3) 2 frees, Cían Mimnagh, Ross McNerney (0-3), Declan Mimnagh (1-1), Gary Maguire.  Sub used.  Ronan McEntire (0-1).  Other subs on the day were Gavin McNerney, Mícheál Reilly, Padraic McNerney, Enda Kiernan, Donie Conefrey, Cathal Conefrey. On Saturday our div. 3 panel continued the league program when we had Killoe as visitors to Pairc na Gael.  While we are out of contention in this competition this was a good workout for our players with championships around the corner.  While we were defeated on the evening it was great to see our younger players performing so well on the evening.  Team on the evening; Kevin Hourican, Thomas Conefrey, Keith Masterson, Conor Kiernan, Ronan Smith, Liam Doherty, Michael Reynolds, Niall McManus, Conal Murphy, Dermot Reilly, Hugh Martin, Peter Mimnagh, Peadar Kiernan. Well done to the county juniors who had a good win away to Wexford on Wednesday last.  Congratulations and best wishes to current player Eugene McNaboe who got married to Ciara Moen from Tyholland, Co. Monaghan on Saturday last.  Congratulations to former player Brian Kiernan and his wife Mary on the birth of their baby daughter during the past week. Sincere condolences to the Kilkenny family Coronea on the death of Anna at the week end.
