Last weekend was a memorable weekend for our club and the surrounding communities as the activities to celebrate the life of Cian Smith took place.  On Friday and Saturday we saw very enjoyable nights of "Come Dine with Me" in the Breffni Arm Hotel and the Piker’s Lodge Gowna.  The grand finale of the weekend saw teammates from the different teams that Cian was involved play a fun game in Pairc na Gael.  The attendances at each event bore testament to the high esteem that Cian was held across the communities with which he came in contact.  In keeping with Cian trade mark sense of humour, the theme of fun was very much to the fore in all events over the weekend.  A big thanks and well done to the Smith family and the organising committee whose preparations made it the very special weekend it was and one that will be fondly remembered by all.  It is pleasing to know that proceeds raised over the course of the weekend will go to the "Make a Wish" foundation. Next weekend see the reserve league get under way.  We have Mostrim as visitors to Pairc na Gael this Saturday at 3pm in reserve league 1 and this is followed by a reserve league 3 which is also at home against Grattans at 4.30pm.  Best of luck to all here. Hard luck again to Longford seniors on Saturday night last when going narrowly down to Armagh.  Well done to Francis and Damien who continue to fly the flag with distinction for us.  Hopefully lady luck will shine on them this Sunday in Pearse Park when Galway provides the opposition and that they will finally get rewarded for their commitment. Best of luck to the Longford u21 panel and management who travel to Parnell Park to take on Dublin in the Leinster championship this Wednesday. Sincere sympathies go to the McNally family Clonback on their recent bereavement.
