Division 1: Dromard 3-14 Longford Slashers 4-10. Well done to the senior team who claimed a narrow one-point victory over Longford Slashers at Pairc na nGael on Friday evening last in their fourth league game of the year. This was a very entertaining and open contest during which both sides played some good passages of attacking football. With Dromard’s midfield partnership winning a good share of possession, the home team led by 3-7 to 1-4 at half time. The Dromard goals were scored by Declan Mimnagh (2) and Francis McGee. Dromard started the second half brightly with some fine points by Ronan McEntire and Ross McNerney to stretch their lead.  Longford Slashers began to win more possession as the second half developed and, after some loose play by the home team, Slashers scored a second goal to reduce the Dromard lead. Dromard replied with a good point on the run by Ronan McEntire. Despite being on top for good spells in the game, a late brace of goals after some direct football by the visitors left just a single point between the sides at the final whistle. Team: Team: Damien Sheridan, Enda Kiernan, Peter Masterson, David Petit, Pauric Martin, John Sheridan, Niall Vance, Ronan McEntire, Diarmuid Masterson, James Martin, Emmet Masterson, Bernard Sheridan, Francis McGee, Declan Mimnagh, Ross McNerney. Subs: James Mimnagh, Michael Reilly, Conor Duffy. A speedy recovery to Francis McGee who picked up an injury during the game.

Division 3: Our Division 3 team took on Abbeylara in their third game of this competition on Sunday last in Pairc na nGael. The game saw John Gray and Kevin Murtagh make a welcome return to the Dromard colours. On this occasion, Dromard found the going tough against a strong and very mobile Abbeylara team. In arrears by 8 points at half time, Dromard worked very hard on the resumption and won plenty of possession. After being narrowly wide with two goal-scoring opportunities early in the half, Dromard finally scored a deserved goal with Peadar Kiernan picking up possession on the left wing and finishing low to the net following a great run infield. With a break until the next fixture, it is important that all players attend training and use the opportunity to improve their fitness. Team: Sean McNerney, Thomas Conefrey, Cathal Conefrey, James Conefrey, Niall McManus, Conor Duffy, Ronan Smith, Peter McEntire, Noel Reynolds, Fergal Berry, Martin McGee, Peadar Kiernan, John McNaboe, Peter Mimnagh, John Gray. Subs: Oisin Hourican, Kevin Murtagh.

Reserve League 1: The team took on St Mary’s Granard on Bank Holiday Monday – report in next week’s notes. The next game in this competition is on Saturday evening (9th May) at 7pm in Pairc na nGael when Dromard take on Abbeylara.
