Club Notes for Friday 9th August 2013

On Saturday last our seniors played round 2 of the group stages of the championship. The opposition was provided by St. Marys Granard with Allen Park the venue.  The evening was dry with a breeze present that the Granard men had the assistance of in the opening half.  It was our opponents who struck first with a pointed free.  Dromard had a good spell of possession that yielded 1-7 without response.  Both sides exchanged points which left the half time score Dromard 1-10 St. Mary Granard 0.3.  Dromard opened the second half scoring with a point from play but our opponents narrowed the gap with points of their own.  Granard enjoyed a good phase of play but by the full time whistle we finished ahead on the scoreline of Dromard 1-14 St. Mary's Granard 0-8. Team and scorers; Damien Sheridan, Paul McGee, Peter Masterson, David Pettit, James Mimnagh, John Sheridan, Micheal Reilly, Noel Reynolds, Bernard Sheridan, Emmet Masterson, Ronan McEntire (0-3),James Martin (0-4) 3 frees, Ross McNerney (0-1),Francis McGee (0-5) 2 frees, Cían Mimnagh (1-1).  Subs used; Gary Maguire, Cathal Conefrey, Padraig McNerney, Donie Conefrey and Enda Kiernan.  Other subs on the day were Kevin Donohoe, Gavin McNerney, Kieran McStay, Niall McManus and Conal Murphy. The draw for the final round of the group stages of the senior championship took place in Monaduff on Sunday evening and Dromard were drawn against Clonguish. This game is fixed for Monaduff at 6.15pm this Saturday. Best of luck to all involved there. Our juniors play the opening round of the championship next weekend with an away fixture to Forgney. Congratulations to our highly dedicated clubman Damien Sheridan and his wife Ann on the birth of their baby, a boy during the past week. This is also the first grandchild to proud grandparents Mike Joe and Annette. The Dromard 4 Schools Reunion takes place this weekend from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th August as part of The Gathering 2013 festivities. The following is a synopsis of events taking place over the week end. Friday, Reunion Mass at Legga Church, Re-union Buffet at the Clubhouse /Marquee followed by music entertainment by Kay and Nashville Sound and other local entertainment. Full bar facilities. Tickets for Buffet and Dance are on sale locally €15 each. Admission after 11pm will be €10. Saturday, 5k Fun Run/Walk/Jog starting from the Clubhouse followed by refreshments (No Entry Fee), Football Blitz in the 3-G Facility, Tours of historical sites of the parish. Mass in Moyne followed by Blessing of Graves in adjoining cemetery. Welcome Home Barbeque with entertainment by Nite Fever and D.J. Ken. Final of 7-aside local club masters tournament and Official Opening and Blessing of 3-G Facility. Sunday, Parish Mass in Legga Church followed by Blessing of Legga and Tubberpatrick Cemeteries. Why not join us for a traditional lunch at Pairc Na Gael consisting of Boxty, Bacon, Eggs and Homemade Brown Bread followed by a traditional day consisting of a step back in time to the re-enactment of an old classroom scene, Ceili Music, dancing, singing and storytelling, Vintage Display, Family Entertainment  etc. Lotto results for Monday 29th July 2013. The numbers drawn were 9, 12, 17 and 23 There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were May Quinn, Mark Breslin, Jim Corr, Karen Dobson. The seller's prize was won by Geraldine Bleakley.
