On Saturday last our seniors played their opening round of the division 1 league.  The rain earlier in the day left the Pairc na Gael surface slippery.  We had the assistance of a stiff breeze in the opening half.  We landed the game's opening score through a converted Declan Mimnagh 45.  A James Martin free following a foul on Gary Maguire extended the lead before the visitors levelled matters with a brace from play.  A point from play from Declan Mimnagh was cancelled out by a Killoe equaliser. Further points from play were scored by Emmet Masterson and Cian Mimnagh before the break while our opponents response was a point left the half time score Dromard 0-05 Killoe 0-04.  Cían Mimnagh found the target with a fine individual effort from the throw in.  Killoe landed an unanswered 3 points to edge ahead.  A James Martin free levelled matters again.  An opportunist goal from Ross McNerney gave us a 3 point lead.  Killoe responded well to move ahead again with 4 points from play. Gary Maguire pointed well in tight quarters to draw level.  Despite having had a couple of attacks of our own at that stage it was the visitors who broke forward to land the winner.  Full time score Dromard 1-08 Killoe 0-12.  Team and scorers;  Damien Sheridan, James Mimnagh, Peter Masterson, David Pettit, Kevin Donohoe, Paul McGee, Peter Reynolds, Bernard Sheridan, Noel Reynolds, John Sheridan, Cían Mimnagh (0-02), Declan Mimnagh (0-02) 1 45, Ross McNerney (1-00), James Martin (0-02) 2 frees, Gary Maguire (0-01).  Subs used; Emmet Masterson (0-01), Cathal Conefrey and Kieran McStay.  Other subs on the day were Gavin McNerney, Mícheál Reilly, Enda Kiernan, Donie Conefrey, Martin McGee, Niall Mc Manus and Conal Murphy. We have an away fixture with Ardagh this Saturday. On Saturday evening our Div. 3 panel took on neighbours Fr. Manning Gaels in Pairc na Gael.  With the assistance of the breeze it was the visitors who had the better of the first half exchanges. The half time score was Dromard 1-00 Fr. Manning Gaels 1-06. A run of 4 points from play brought Dromard right back into contention. A late Gaels goal ensured the points for the Drumlish/Ballinamuck outfit on the score Dromard 1-06, Fr. Manning Gaels 2-08. Team and scorers;  Niall McManus, Stephen Kenny, James Conefrey, Thomas Conefrey, Michael Reynolds, Keith Masterson, James Kenny, Ronan Smith, Enda Kiernan, Niall Berry, Dermot Reilly (0-01), Martin McGee (0-01) 1 free, Hugh Martin, Peter Mimnagh (0-03) 2 frees, Jimmy Kiernan (1-01).  Sub used; Conal Murphy.  Next game in this competition is an away fixture with Colmcille on this Sunday. Best wishes go to Kevin Maguire who departed these shores for the US last week. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Tommy Gray, Clonelly who passed to his eternal reward last week. Tommy was a former player with the club and had a keen interest in the activities in it. Lotto results for Monday 8th April 2013.
