Club Notes for Friday 23rd Sept 2011

Dromard GAA club in conjunction with Longford Sports Partnership (see is hosting a fun walk on Sunday 2nd October 2011. The 5km walk will commence at 3pm from the GAA clubhouse and will proceed via Martin's Cross, Aughamore Lr Road, turn left in Legga Pass, left at Morris's, down through Paul's Cross, past Legga Cemetery, Legga Church and back to the clubhouse. The winners of the tickets for the All Ireland football final were Phil Brady, Gerry Donohoe, Sean Conefrey, James Conefrey, Annette Sheridan, PJ Berry and Fergal Berry. On Saturday morning last we took part in Kilmacud Crokes All Ireland 7 a side. Our first game was against Donegal champions Naomh Conaill of Glenties. We trailed at the final whistle by 5-06 to 1-06. Our second game was against Ballymun Kickams and despite a close encounter we were in arrears 3-09 to 2-06 at the finish. In the last game we were pitted against IIen Rovers of Cork and we won out on this occasion 4-05 to 2-04. Well done to all the lads who travelled and for representing our club so well on the day. The panel of players were as follows; Niall Vance, Peadar Faughnan, James Martin, Padraig Martin, Diarmuid Masterson, Peter Masterson, Paul McGee, Cian Mimnagh, Francis Mc Gee and James Mimnagh. Thanks to Cathal Conefrey and Damien Sheridan who ran the lines on the day. Thanks also to Annagh native Brian Donohoe of Londis, Inchicore, for providing the food refreshments for the players during the course of the competition. On Saturday our under 21's had a challenge away to Carrigallen and we thank the Carrigallen club for this useful workout. This week we have Division 1 league games on Wednesday away to Fr. Manning Gaels at 8.15pm and on Saturday away to Sean Connolly's at 6pm. We offer our condolences to the Kiernan family Cornakelly on the passing Nellie Sweeney nee Kiernan who passed away in England recently. Lotto results for Monday night 12th September 2011. The numbers drawn were 20, 21, 23 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. The winners of the draw were James Gray, Kathleen Curran, Gerry Casey and Seamus Farrell. The seller's prize was won by Paddy Martin.
