Club Notes for Friday 9th Sept 2011.

On Wednesday last we travelled to Clonee to take on Killoe in the All County Div. 1 league.  We got off to a good start scoring the opening 5 points of the game. Killoe responded with a point but our team were moving well across the field and continued to pick off scores up to half time.  Our first half scores included a Declan Mimnagh goal.  The second half saw the home side add to their score and while Dromard added a second goal through James Martin, the game finished on the scoreline Dromard 2-20 Killoe 0-09.  Team and scorers; Damien Sheridan, Cathal Conefrey, Niall Vance, Peter Reynolds, Peadar Faughnan (0-02), Paul McGee, Peter Masterson, Noel Reynolds, James Mimnagh, Cian Mimnagh (0-04) 1 free, Diarmuid Masterson (0-02), Declan Mimnagh (1-00), James Martin (1-03) 1 free, Francis Mc Gee (0-08) 2 frees, 1 pen, 1 50, Emmet Masterson.  Subs used.  David Pettit (0-01), Bernard Sheridan and Gavin McNerney. We play Fr. Manning Gaels on Saturday next in Pairc na Gael at 6.30pm. On Friday evening last we played our opening game in the Packie Rogers tournament against the host club Mullinalaghta in the Laurels.  Rain left conditions difficult for both teams. The home side opened the scoring with a brace of points.  We responded with 2 points from play by Kevin Maguire.  The first half was evenly contested and the score at half time was Dromard 0-04 Mullinalaghta 0-05.  The second half saw us fall behind on the scoreboard and despite battling hard until the end the full time score was Dromard 1-08 Mullinalaghta 3-12.  Team and scorers; Brian McCormack, Mark Murtagh, James Conefrey, Thomas Conefrey, Robert Cooke, Enda Kiernan, Conor Kiernan, Kiernan McStay, Michael Reilly, Cornie McGinley, Gary Maguire (0-02) 2 frees, Kevin Hourican, Sean McNerney (1-02), Peter Mimnagh (0-02) 2 frees, Kevin Maguire (0-02).  Sub used; Niall McManus.  We are due to play Carrickedmond in the next round of this tournament at home on Thursday next at 7pm. Congratulations to Moydow Harpers on claiming the Junior championship at the weekend. Best of luck to all teams that are involved in the county finals on Sunday next. Best to luck to Damien Sheridan when he sets out to defend his kick fada title in the Bray Emmet’s club on Saturday next. We offer our sincere condolences to Patricia Reilly Firmullagh and her family on the passing of her mother.
