Pride of place goes to our Reserve league Div. 1 panel who captured this title on Saturday evening last against Mostrim in Fr. Mc Gee Park. Twenty six years had elapsed since we last won this title. Great credit goes to the panel who experienced highs and lows during the campaign but found their form when it mattered most. Special thanks to management team of Sean T Donohoe and Gerry Mimnagh who showed great dedication to this group. Gerry lined out at midfield in the '86 decider. Thanks to Pat Jones who covered the first aid requirements and to anyone else who assisted in anyway. The game itself started with an Enda Macken point from play quickly followed by a Gary Maguire pointed free. Mostrim replied with a pointed free before we scored three unanswered points to open up a 5pt to 1pt lead. Our opponents pulled a point back through a free. It was at this stage we struck with a Gary Maguire goal following good work from Bernard Sheridan. A Mostrim point from a free was the last score of the half to leave the half time score at Dromard 1-05 Mostrim 0-03. We started the second half strongly landing three points to extend our advantage to 8 points. The Edgeworthstown men came back into the game strongly to eventually close the gap to 1 point. Our defence held out to the final whistle to win on the score line Dromard 1-08 Mostrim 0-10. Team and scorers; Sean McNerney, Enda Kiernan, Padraig McNerney, James Conefrey, Conor Duffy, Kevin Donohoe, Peadar Faughnan, James Mimnagh, Donal Sheridan, Kieran McStay (0-01), Bernard Sheridan (0-01) 1 free, Mícheál Reilly, Enda Macken (0-02), Noel Reynolds (0-01), Gary Maguire (1-03) 2 frees. Subs used; Paul McEntire & Padraig Jones. Other subs on the evening were Brendan McLoughlin, Conor Kiernan, Kevin Maguire, Michael Reynolds, Martin McGee, Donie Conefrey & Thomas Conefrey. Thanks to staff and management of the Breffni Arms who prepared a meal for the panel after the game. Thanks to the Colmcille club for having their facilities in excellent condition. Our seniors have a provisional league game away to Mostrim this Wednesday.
